50 Fenchurch Street, owned by The Clothworkers’ Company, is an island site featuring post-1945 buildings alongside the Grade I listed Tower of All Hallows Staining and Grade II listed Lambe’s Chapel Crypt. The proposed redevelopment includes 62,000m² of flexible office space, urban greening, and enhanced public access. The Tower will be integrated into a new public realm, and the Crypt will be relocated for improved accessibility and presentation, supporting the City of London’s growth as a financial hub.
Our role was to inform the stage 2 Closed Cavity Facade (CCF) design with regard to build-ups that meet the set goals for maximum solar gains limit and allow for a good all-year-round performance without compromising real-life daylight and views out.
In addition, we discuss issues such as (solar and glare) control strategies and operational energy as they are closely related to the actual facade performance. In more details:
